Gender: Female

Occupation: CEO and Chairman of the Board of Solis Technologies
Canon or Original: Original
Mutations:
- Sanity Manipulation: Crippling psychosis overtakes those in Anabelle’s sight who she chooses to inflict. They lose grip on reality and become delusional. They may be struck by intense feelings of rage or fear. This normally can last anywhere from 30 min to a few hours as the effects gradually subside. However, with long-term exposure to this ability, she can make this permanent. Breaking things is always easier than fixing things though. Anabelle can give some one brief moments of clarity around 10 minutes or so. However, actually restoring sanity takes much more work. That being said, she can undo most mental damage given enough time.
- Compulsory Oath: Promising anything to Anabelle triggers this ability. Those who know well enough are careful to phrase things, so it doesn’t sound like a promise (No saying “I will” or “I promise” or the like). This ability psychically compels people fulfill their promise. Attempting to break the promise makes the compulsion more obsessive. Actually breaking the promise can lead to worsening psychosis. She can also cement an oath between two or more other people, acting a mediator for them. Being physically unable to fulfill the oath (like being in NY in an hour when you are in Hawaii) inactivates the oath and its effects.
- Psychic Defense: Attempting to read or manipulate Anabelle’s mind will lead to an automatic defensive action. Those who probe will feel themselves losing grip on their sanity as her mind attacks the foreign entity unless they retreat. Those who attempt to physically attack Anabelle will also be faced with a similar defensive action, which can induce catatonia. The effects of these can last upward to a few hours as if to make sure people regret taking such actions.
- Implant Obsession: With direct eye contact, Anabelle can place an obsessive thought or idea in someone’s mind. The more they try to ignore it, the more obsessive the thought becomes. Giving into the obsessive idea or though will release them from it. They must be conversing about the subject for awhile already for her to use the ability (for example, if you want to make someone obsess about the idea of retiring, you must be talking about their retirement plans). This means there are two requirements: direct eye contact and conversation. The obsession may dissipate naturally over the course of weeks or months, depending on the person in question, the obsession implanted, and how it takes them to resolve their own mental issues. She can not have more than one implanted obsession in a person at a time.

History:
Solis Technologies. The company had been in the hands of the Solis family for 3 generations when Anabelle was born to Lucas and Eva Solis. She was the youngest of three. Eric was the eldest, and Hector was the middle one. As the baby of the family, she was always given a lot of leeway in her behavior. Eva was a distant mother, more interested in herself than her children. Anabelle was always a little ambivalent to her mother, but she respected her father. That being said, she never agreed with him much. Arguments between the two would be tumultuous at times. However, she was rarely home, so she hardly ever saw her parents or siblings. Instead, most of her childhood was spent inside boarding schools. She was left to figure out her mutant powers by herself as well as how best to hide them. To this day, her family isn’t well-aware of what she can do.
In college, she began to see Solis Technologies slip behind other tech companies. Up until then, Anabelle never had much interest in the company, assuming it would go to Eric’s hands anyway. However, considering Eric was so much like their father, she doubted it would be any better with him and Hector had more or less didn’t want any part in Solis Technologies. Focusing on her studies, she graduated early from both her bachelor’s and master’s programs in business. After that, she began to work within the company.
Starting out, she found herself butting heads with Eric a lot. After all, they were vying for similar things. Anabelle got her way more frequently though, being more aggressive in obtaining goals, and it wasn’t too long before they found themselves in positions of comparable power. The tension wasn’t good for business, and it would go on until Lucas decided to retire. Anabelle thought it wise to perhaps force the retirement a little. She spent eight hours talking to her father with his undivided attention before implanting the obsession for him to retire and leave things to her. And who was to say it wasn’t his own idea, because Lucas was adamant that it was for the best.
Anabelle was young, but she had tons of plans. Solis Technologies ended up branching out into biotechnology while making some deals with the U.S. Government to support the Weapon Plus Program. Revenue grew, and the media was drawn to her. So while she wasn’t anticipating the invitation to the Hellfire Club, it wasn’t entirely unexpected for her. Relatively new, Anabelle is still settling in the Hellfire Club, attempting to find a niche to fit into.
RP Sample:
“Have you ever been golfing before, Anna?”
Standing next to a set of clubs, Anabelle wonders if it was obvious they were so recently bought. She does feel out of place in a polo shirt and khakis as they are nothing like her normal attire, but she sucks it up. “No, but I’ve always felt that I should learn. Besides, it gives me a good reason to be out in this terrific weather,” she says with a stunning smile. She didn’t really care much about the sport, but she hardly ever turned down invitations to outings.
The older gentleman laughs a little, “I guess not much of a competition between the two of us then. Your father was pretty good though, but we only played the once.” He tees off and the ball goes pretty far. The two of them follow the thing where it sits in sand trap. “Never know, maybe it runs in my genes, Wes.” Wesley stares at the ball for a while, “Well, you may have a decent chance on this one now.” It takes him a good few tries to get the ball out and onto the green, but he putts it in easily from there.
Now it was her turn, the ball doesn’t go nearly as far even when she uses a closer tee. However, she avoids the sand trap, and the two of them manage to get the same score in the end. “Both over par,” she says. “Nah, I prefer the term above par,” Wes jokes.
