Full Name: GABRIELLA “GABBY” GARM
Codename (Street name: The Doctor) School name: Medic
Nicknames: Medic, Gabby
Gender: Female
Age: 17
D.O.B. (17 yrs ago)
Species: Mutant
---
Occupation: Street Doctor/Apothecary
Canon or Original: Original
Mutations: Healing of herself, others, plants and animals, pheromone manipulation
Mind's eye: Through establishing a link with the body of her patients, she can repair damage at molecular levels. Can even increase a person's potential (but usually doesn't unless they can't walk or something like that). This power works on plants, animals, mutants, humans, anything that she has a working knowledge/understanding of how the organism operates and requires amazing concentration. This ability takes a toll on her and requires rest and an amazing amount of food to be devoured. (High metabolism) Can use energy drinks (Coffee, etc) but the crash afterwards is worse. After eating she'll become lethargic until her mind and body recoups.
Pheromone manipulation: This ability is due to her working knowledge of her own body, and how to manipulate it as a molecular level, to change her scent to a calming one. This calming .... scent, has been changed within her body to be permanent (although it can be temporarily changed for a few minutes or an hour) This scent is used to calm her patients whether it's a human, mutant or animal. It works on an instinctive level. Although if the patient is unable to breath thru their nose, the power will have no effect until the malady is cured.
Accelerated healing: This ability is natural. People that are sick around her, tend to feel better/less pain and their healing is sped up to twice their normal rate the longer they are around her. And is tied with her Pheromone manipulation which causes their calmness.
Classification: Beta
Equipment: Shepard's staff that twists into 2 pieces, apothecary box, medical supplies (in her rolling bag, and at her 'clinic'), 3 cell phones, and her xcomm, and uniform, shepard's horn.
Pet: Wolf pup (age just under 1yr old)
Uniform: none
Skills: Eidetic memory (learned at a young age, not a mutation). Medical training and experience (without a medical degree. learned thru books and experience), pressure point mapping/memory, massage therapy, chiropractic experience, herbal-ism, gardening, cooking, science/chemistry, black belt 1st degree Mui Tai, staff/nun-chuck mastery, Psychology 101 (basic level), business management, Animal Empathy, veterinarian for basic animals (cats, dogs, birds, rodents, snakes, anything that can be a pet). Basic Neurology knowledge (as she's never had to work on a patient in a coma). Most of her medical experience is learned thru books and experience.
Languages known or spoken: German, European Spanish (thanks to their parents), Indian (from India), Samalian, Latin, Italian, Polish, Gaelic, Mexican (VERY different than European Spanish). Learned the other languages due to most of her patients being from those areas so she needed to learn so she could communicate with them. This is also a trust builder.
Weaknesses:
Mistaken for weak/frail: Because of her healing factor.... (or so she thinks) Gabby looks like she's about 10yrs old. She's hoping that as she gets older, that she'll start LOOKING older at least. She hates her height and looking like a kid, mostly due to the teasing.
Intolerant: There are many reasons for this. One trigger is comments about her age/and size. (Will usually get someone beaten within an inch of their lives. But she will usually feel bad and heal the person afterwards, using SLOW healing methods.) Another trigger is: people that are bigots (mean, rude or inconsiderate) she's not very tollerant, also stupid people. She can often be seen bopping family members upside their heads when they do or say something wrong or inappropriate. (Bopping-light smack, will occasionally bop school mates if they misbehave too much or start pissing her off.) Bigots trigger her vocal box before she starts trying to beat the people within an inch of their lives (not close enough to death, but definitely hospital bound).
Control freak: Doesn't like chaos around her. Hates violence, but will resort to violence to restore order to chaos. It takes a lot to make her loose control, but her siblings have been known to break her control over herself, from time to time with their shenanigans.
----
Motivation, and Why: Gabby is at the mansion as it's the best place for her to learn and grow, as a person, as a mutant, as a doctor. Being in a wealthy environment gives better opportunities than being in a poor one. Also hopeful that Beast or herself can find a cure or some mutation that can make her grow.
Why: becoming a Doctor for real, means that she can not just help people, but make enough money to support her family (mom, dad, brothers/sisters, cousins, anyone in her family that needs a little extra help financially). And hates her size.
Loyalty: Neutral, loyal to patients/clients, to herself and family. Herself first and foremost
Physical Appearance: Average appearance: Blonde hair(usually kept in a pony tail at her neck), light brown eyes, short (5'2"), petite, looks like she's about 10 (give or take). Usually wears worn clothes. A worn brown cloak around her shoulders, with matching skirt and vest, with a white cotton shirt underneath.
When out on the town, has her apothecary bag on her back making her look hunchback, and has a rolling bag under her cloak, ALWAYS has her hood drawn, and her face covered with a medical mask and wears black gloves, with medical gloves underneath. It makes her look REALLY out of place, then again, her shepard staff also makes her stick out as if she was a crazy homeless person. Then there's her wolfy friend who's a rather happy puppy unless someone tries to hurt her. (She's the pup's alpha after all)
History:
Gabby is the second oldest of the Garm siblings, and not the first one to be a mutant. In fact she was kind of surprised that both of her parents turned out to be mutants. Then there was her oldest brother (and later her sisters too) who also turned out to be a mutant. Heck she didn't know until her own powers had manifested. But we'll get to that.
Gabby was born and raised in Southall, a small, and rather rough part of London, well, Greater London, since it is on the boarders of Slough and Middlesex with her parents and siblings. Her family was large (at least in her eyes), with tons of aunts and cousins, then there was her own 7 person family living in a rather run down area of town. It was big enough for them all, but only barely. The girls had to share a room while Karrl got his own cause he was the only boy.... The jerk.... kidding. Their family was pretty close growing up. Thank God for loving and understanding parents.
School life was difficult for Karrl, since he hated anyone picking on his sisters in any way shape or form. But Gabby was fine with it. In fact, pushed, beaten up, or verbally abused, she would emotionlessly walk away, not giving her attackers the benefit of seeing her angry or cry. Not that she ever spoke it again, at least not on school grounds. But she had learned and picked up the language thanks to the bullying and her desire to understand and make the bullies understand that she KNEW what they were saying and still thought they were stupid. Which eventually she started gaining some cred with them and the Samalian kids, thanks to her quick learning skills she made friends in both groups which kept her out of trouble from then on. At least until her teacher caught her. It wasn't until her Indian teacher caught her speaking Hindi that the beatings from the teacher started. But that was quickly resolved, and unfortunately resulted in her changing schools and starting over again. Which was frustrating.
With the scandal of her being hit by a teacher, her father decided it was time to teach the kids martial arts. It would not only teach them discipline but how to protect themselves, should there be no one to protect them. Karrl was the first to learn, Gabby was next. And although Gabby had no interest in Martial Arts, she did as she was told cause it kept the in fighting among the family to a minimum. That and it'd give Karrl someone to spar with. At least until Helena started learning.
Unfortunately learning how to fight was a big mistake for Gabby. She didn't seem to have problems hurting anyone that touched her without her permission. This caused a lot of problems at school. SURE she kept to herself and stayed in the library ALL of the time when not in class. But if someone snuck up on her and touched her, or tried to hurt her, she'd subdue them quickly and with deadly efficiency. Here she was in middle school and was already reading medical books and science books whenever she could get her hands on them. Unfortunately her quick reflexes made her unapproachable along with Karrl and the other girls giving her the reputation of being a sociopath. YEP that was her nickname, Sociopath, despite the kids not really understanding what that word meant, she did. She knew the same day they started calling her that. Which only annoyed her.
High school came along and of course her reputation stuck. Well her own, and Karrl's reps. So when her younger sisters got into the same school and became interested in boys, none would approach for fear of Crazy Sociopath and Mr Violent beating them senseless. Then again, her and Karrl weren't the only ones that were .... violent? In their family. Not that the other students knew that. But Karrl had it right, when he said *if a boy is too scared to date you because of your family, then they aren't worth your time.* And that ended up part of her mentality..... he made sense.
Soooo since she was small and people were afraid to tease her, she became even more unapproachable and decided to focus on her studies to an obsessive level. It was around this time that a new kid came to school and didn't know her rep.... well he was warned, but decided that she wasn't that scary so decided to be a smart ass..... (Dumb ass more like it) and poke at her height. Unfortunately this triggered a violent rage within her and she started beating the crap out of the new kid, pummeling him until it seemed that every bone in his body was broken, and he was unconsciousness. Not that his lack of consciousness stopped her, it was the Gym teacher that PULLED her off of him, while she continued to flail helplessly.
The girl was taken to an empty classroom to calm down, before taken to the principle's office, since she was still trying to get out the doors and to the kid to kill him. Eventually she regained control (since the kid wasn't around to trigger her temper), and she explained what happened to the teacher and to the Principle who had just taken the kid to the emergency room.
She honestly didn't remember what happened after the insult, being pulled off of the kid, or even trying to destroy the poor classroom. She understood that she was just expelled, cause this level of abuse couldn't be condoned or tolerated. So she was taken home by her dad who tried to be understanding but couldn't understand what happened. Girls weren't supposed to be this violent..... it was his telepathic link with her that he finally understood.
With Karrl gone, she no longer had an outlet for her anger, so she'd been bottling it up until it exploded. So he took her to the gym and let her beat things up, and try to beat him up. He deliberately pushed every insecurity and button she had until she was exhausted trying to kill him and had returned to her senses.
Laying on the mat in the gym the girl cried for the first time in her life, at the monster she'd felt she had become. And knew she HAD to learn control and see the kid to apologize. So that's what her and her dad worked on for days, barely coming out of the gym for meals, work and sleep. That's when he gave her the staff. Multi uses, and gave her a sense of control that she'd been feeling like she was missing.
The feel of the wood under her fingers, even as she'd become angry, she could clench it or break it instead of people. It's how she started channeling her anger.... towards the poor wood. Once she started thinking about the poor wood with it's cracks and finger indentations, she started healing it subconsciously. Eventually she had regained control of her anger thanks to the staff which seemed to continue to take her abuse, so now it was time to take responsibility. To see the kid and apologize. (Thankfully no charges were made against her, probably thanks to her dad.) And thanks to dad she was able to see the kid, while he stood outside. She had her staff in hand so she'll be ok.... or so he hoped.
Sitting next to the .... dumb ass..... Gabby started to cry again, feeling bad and headachy, she rested her head on his bed only barely making skin contact was enough for her power to kick in. It was almost as if her mind was inside his body and checking his injuries. It wasn't difficult to figure out what was wrong and it became easy to figure out how to fix him. She'd been reading medical journals on the subject, and had a mock skeleton in her science class, she KNEW what was right and what was wrong, at least with tissue and bone damage. Her desire to fix him made her do exactly that, fix him. Now to do something about the drug coma..... she left it alone and went to her dad exhausted and falling unconscious in his arms.
When she woke up she was still tired but HUNGRY in a way she'd never been before, and was thankfully at home. It was as she was shoveling food into her mouth that she explained what happened at the hospital and why she was excited. She'd just become a mutant like they show on TV, and her powers involved healing. It meant that she'd never have to worry about killing anyone ever again.
Unfortunately/fortunately, that meant that she'd have to leave home and join her brother in America. That's fine, yanks are people too, some stupid, some nice, she was sure. But she hoped above all else, that she'd learn to control herself better and maybe even become a doctor.
YAY AMERICA!!!!
Once here and at Xaviers, it wasn't long to raid their medical library and computers, learning everything she could about fixing broken things, people, plants, basic animals, etc. So out she went one weekend got a cell phone some small cards, and started helping people on the streets and handing out her number. Eventually the girl ended up with street cred as a miracle worker. It wasn't long before a movie star came to her for help with her pet wolves. No one knew what was wrong with them and why they kept attacking people, and this one poor pup who was on the verge of starving to death. So she went with her. And that's where she met them. The Pack.
The pack was large, consisting of 5 wolves, and 2 litters of pups. One of the pups was a runt.... like her.... originally the pack wouldn't let any human near enough to figure out what was wrong. It wasn't until Gabby turned her Eye upon herself and changed her pheromones to one that said *HEY I"M COOL, I'm not a threat and I'm not dinner*, that they let her in near them. Long enough to removed the poor bullied pup from the cage. After spending time with the pack she figured out what was wrong. They were fighting for dominance and territory. There just wasn't enough space any more. Once that was figured out, she was able to leave, but not before the woman gave her the wolf pup as a gift, and as partial payment (Money was the other part since she'd need it for care items). It was near death, it would take a lot to bring it back and she didn't know the first thing about wolf care, but she'd learn.
On the ride back to the institute, she went to the pet store to get dog care items, shampoo, brushes, food, books anything she could find that could help. Little did she know that the pup was getting stronger just by being near her. Which she was walking around with, held to her chest and covered by her cloak it stayed safe. She also needed to think of a name. Maybe after he got better.
At first the staff didn't like the idea of having a wild creature like a wolf on the grounds, but decided it'd be fine, since the mutants were far more dangerous and could protect themselves if needed. LOL
RP Sample:
Gabby was sleeping soundly when her emergency cell phone went off. It was that.... *special* ring tone that told her that the client was a criminal. Answering the phone with few words, she hung up. With a quick yawn, the girl quickly got dressed, grabbed her staff and cloak and headed to her door. It was past curfew.... Hopefully she wouldn't get caught, not even by her siblings. Security protocols hadn't been changed, at least not yet, so she was able to open a window on the bottom floor in the library and climb out, followed by her wolf pup.
Once outside she put her hood over her head and proceeded to sneak off campus. Sure she was only 17 and totally breaking curfew, but if she didn't, she'd probably have no clinic or patients ever again. It was a risk she HAD to take. And out she went, carefully climbing the fence, followed by her pup (who was one heck of a leaper). Once further away from the mansion, the girl called for a cab and had it take her, her pup and her medical kit to the designated location.
It was a mob boss, shot by an attempted hit on his life and he was in critical condition. So speed was of importance. The man was at home, and that's where she went (dropped off down the street from said home), she ran to the address. Secrecy was important in these events, hopefully she wasn't too late, or she'd be in trouble in more ways than one.
Buzzing the front gate, they saw who she was, let her in, then quickly escorted her to their boss.
"Good evening Sir. I brought paperwork for you to sign, then I'll get started on saving your life." Her face was covered by a medical mask as always, but his goons had dealings with her before so they knew her voice, appearance, everything they could remember.
Handing the man in the bed the sheet of paper, he read it and started laughing, which caused him to cough up blood.
"You can either sign and honor the contract or I can walk out and let you die. It's up to you. I don't care either way. Except if you die, more innocents will be caught in the cross fire and sent to me, keeping me busy. Also, your men would never receive treatment ever again. So you have an important decision to make. "
The man sputtered "YOU DARE THREATEN ME?"
Gabby sighed quietly as she responded in a monotone voice, betraying her apathy. . "Sir, I don't threaten, I make promises. I can level this entire place if I really wanted to, killing every single person here, including your family. But I'm no vigilante. I honestly don't care what business you're in, only the one I'm in. That is something you won't get from a normal doctor. Normal docs feel obligated to save lives, even if it means taking your's. I have no such desires. I simply want what I want, and what I want is in that contract. I'll send you a copy for your records. But this will ensure not only my lips sealed, but continued treatment of you and your men in the future. So I ask you once again. Will you make the smart choice? Or will you die?"
The older man laying in the bed grumbled as he took her pen and signed. "Smart choice. I'm ready to start the procedure whenever you are."
Knocking the man out (which was safest for him), she proceeded to operate on him, while he lay in his own bed. The man's maid was made to help her as she worked and her pup lay in a corner by the door.
Once done, Gabby, Aka: Doctor went to the bathroom to clean up, while the maid cleaned the room the best she could, taking bloody sheets and what nots with her as she left the room, leaving the Mob Boss alone in the room with the pup.
Cleaning her equipment (with the bathroom door open) she could hear her pup growling. Never a good sign. It had been trained to warn her of danger. Luckily she could take care of her patients and herself.
Putting on clean surgical gloves, the Doc put her mask back on, grabbed her staff, and turned off the bathroom light before walking back out quietly. Sure enough, a masked figure entered the room thru the boss' balcony. Once close to her still sleeping patient, her wolf attacked while Doc proceeded to pummel the would be assassin within an inch of his life. Using a needle to sedate the apparent man, she bound his arms and legs with ducktape, healed the man using her mutant ability, before calling the guards. Oh the man would be bruised, but his internal injuries were healed at least. Let the mobster's men deal with this attempted killer. That wasn't her job, it was their's. It was simply HER job to make sure her patient remained safe and healing properly.
A while after the man was dragged away by the Mobster's men, Mr M woke up, safe and feeling better. His lieutenant stood to the side and told his boss what happened, and how the girl saved his life. The Doc got re-dressed (cloak, bag etc) and was about to leave his bedside when he grabbed her arm and spoke.
"I'll honor our contract if you do." Was all he said, she nodded and motioned for his lieutenant to lead the way.
But not before giving the mobster some sage advice. " I know that in your line of work you need to be paranoid, so I'll tell you this. In these kinds of situations, it's always best to look at the people closest to you, before you start looking at other mobs or gangs. Start with your closest, and work your way out. Cause normally, it's a lieutenant looking to take over the business cause he or she has ideas to bring the organization into the 21st Century. Then again, maybe I watch too many mobster movies. Even if the others that I know, have had it happen to them. Just some advice for you, treat it as you will. Good evening Mr M." With a bow, the girl grabbed her stuff and left with her pup close on her heels.
Once out of the gate, and down the street, she called for a cab again, and was taken back to the mansion.... well..... to the place she was picked up originally, then WALKED back, once the cab was out of sight.
Jumped the fence with pup behind her (as usual), and headed back to the open window, then her room. She wouldn't be surprised if people knew what she did as a double life, but no one had ever said anything to her so Gabby thought she was fine, She moved quickly and quietly back to her room to sleep for the last 2 hours before breakfast and school. This hiding stuff was for the birds, she couldn't wait until she was 18 and out of school
