Full Name: Jean Catherine Grey
Codename: Phoenix (cause Ms Marvel is taken, and Marvel girl sounds like it's for a teenager)
(she does NOT have the Phoenix powers in any way shape or form)
Nicknames: Jeannie, Red
Gender: Female (Last I checked)
Age: 26
D.O.B. May 5, 1987
Species: Mutant
---
Occupation: Super Hero, Professor
Canon or Original: Canon
Mutations: Telepathy, Telekinesis
Telekinesis: Projection of psychokinetic energy enables her to levitate objects, propel or manipulate them however she wishes, lift herself and move through the air to simulate flight, stimulate individual molecules to create heat, generate concussive force as blasts or bursts, and create protective shields. When she had access to the Phoenix Force, she was able to manipulate matter and energy on a sub-atomic scale using her telekinesis. She could even change her Phoenix clothes into a set of street clothes, and lift multiple heavy objects at once without having any difficulties. With the Phoenix Force removed from her she is still able to manipulate matter on a sub-atomic level, as the Phoenix simply amplified her natural gifts, while having gifted her more.
Telepathy: Jean is able to read thoughts, project and broadcast her own thoughts, as well as affect the minds of humans and animals with higher order intelligence (such as dolphins, ravens or dogs). She has demonstrated the following specialized uses:
Telepathic Defense:
She can manifest her telepathy in a number of defensive ways.
Telepathic Cloak: She can mask her presence and the use of her abilities from being detected by other psions and psychic entities. She can extend these defenses to others around her as well. Cloaking via telepathy is not perfect and powerful psis may notice and 'see' through this ability.
Cloak Mind: Ability to rearrange the “mental engrams” of mutants so their distinctive mutant thought patterns cannot be detected by Cerebro-type devises or by other telepaths.
Psychic Shield: Ability to erect a psychic shield for protection of herself and of others minds.
Telepathic Illusions: She can create realistic telepathic illusions and cause people to experience events which are not actually occurring.
Telepathic Camouflage: She can alter the apparent physical appearance of herself and other people by altering the perceptions of those around her. This can go so far as to make other people believe that the camouflaged people are not there (invisible). A limit, if one exists, is only imposed by the number of people she is trying to fool, not the number of people she is camouflaging.
Telepathic Manipulation: She can manipulate other people's minds easily, achieving a variety of effects.
Mind Control: She can control the thoughts and actions of others.
Mind Possession: She can possess the mind of another, and use that being's body as her own.
Personality Alteration: She can alter the minds of others by force of will, thus permanently changing their personality partially or entirely.
Mental Paralysis: She can induce temporary mental or physical paralysis.
Mental Amnesia: She can erase any awareness of particular memories or cause total amnesia.
Mind Transferal: She can transfer both her mind and powers into other host bodies if her own physical body could be somehow killed.
Heal Trauma: The ability to erase a person’s memories and to heal mental trauma through “psychic surgery,” the power to stimulate or deaden the pain and pleasure centers in a persons brain.
Mental Sedating: Can telepathically "sedate" her victims so that, if already rendered unconscious, they remain so for as long as she continues to "sedate" them.
Neural Jump-start: She can increase the speed of neural signals in the brain, she could increase another mutants powers to incredible levels, but the effect was only temporary.
Dilate Power: Ability to place “psychic inhibitors” in the minds of mutant adversaries to prevent them from using their powers.
Mind Link: Ability to develop a mental link with any person which remains as a connection to that individual.
Psychic Blast: She can project psychic force bolts which have no physical effects but which can affect a victim's mind so as to cause the victim pain or unconsciousness and turning someone brain-dead.
Astral Projection: She can project her astral form from her body onto Astral Plane or the physical plane. In the physical plane she can travel in astral form over vast distances. In the astral plane, she can mentally create psionic objects and manipulate the aspects of her environment. She can communicate with others astrally through her own will, or through contact with the thoughts and memories of others.
Mental Detection: She can sense the presence of another superhuman mutant within a small but as yet undefined radius of herself by perceiving the distinctive mental radiations emitted by such a being. Which can be amplified by Cerebro.
Psychic Firebird: She can manifest her telepathy as a psychic firebird; whose claws could inflict both physical and mental damage.
Classification: Omega
Equipment: Cars, trucks, buses, team mates, anything I can throw via telekinesis. School communicator. Uniform.
Uniform: i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i474/KitsuneHaiten/xmen/Jeannie/jean005.jpg Green and black armor with a golden Phoenix emblem, as an honor to her past Phoenixy partner, and since she feels that both her and the Phoenix Force had hurt so many people to have the name and do good, yet again, will hopefully atone for past misdeeds.
Skills: bad ass... (On a serious note) Astral Combat is her forte this is where she excels (having *had* an ULTIMIATE COSMIC Entity with it's own personality in your head will give you some bad ass skills in this area), intermediate levels of (hand to hand style)Self Defense, advanced telekinetic combat including defense of others and herself, as well as telepathic combat.
Weaknesses: *snickers* You're kidding, right? Ok fine.
Girl next door: Since childhood, Jean always had the expectations placed upon her to be a "Good Girl", "Do the right thing", be pretty, be perfect, get great grades. Some people think that the pretty girls don't have complex's or issues, they're just brain dead tools to be used and thrown away, Jeannie had kept all of these issues inside for a LONG time. This causes a LOT of pressure on a child, and had caused a lot upon her, so when Dark Phoenix came out, it was ALL Of her repressed emotions of anger, guilt and fear, all coming out at once.
Questioning her ethics: After having dealt with the 3 Phoenix Forces (AND the Hellfire Club's Manipulation), she'd experienced all sorts of emotions as well as had her moral compass tested, twisted, manipulated, used and abused. But after all is said and done, she KNOWS she's a good girl, and WANTS to be a good girl, but understands there are gray areas, so where does it all start? How does one start down the dark path and come back from that? She'd done it, not sure how, although she did. So now it comes down to how does she keep from doing down that dark path again? (Just because you CAN do something, doesn't mean you should.)
Back from the dead (AGAIN): BUCKET LIST!! YEP Jean has one now, especially since she's now MET Death (the construction worker) AND lost the very thing that kept her alive (the PF). Things she has and hasn't done in her life, she is now going out of her way to do. Live the life she'd always wanted, wanted to do things that she'd never regret later. This desire makes her come off seeming a bit reckless. Even if this recklessness has it's limitations.
PTSD: Due to having killed an entire star system and it's inhabitants, after every combat Jean now has to take an hour long shower or wash her hands obsessively. Often times leaving her skin raw and sensitive. If she doesn't get her shower or clean her hands within 2 hours, she becomes crankier and crankier until she ends up a down and out bitch. This is because her brain is envisioning all of those people's deaths.... their BLOOD.... being on her hands and body. Afterwards, she usually needs a couple of hours of *Down Time* to work on her issues, until they are no longer an issue (at least until the next combat).

Motivation, and Why: Motivation: To help the Xmen/her friends, to preserve Xavier's dream, to unite Humans and Mutants. And to see if she can't repair what her and Scott had.
Why?: Because Xavier's dream is all she's ever known, and it's something she believe in. As Xavier's first student she felt she kind of owed the man that much, even if she couldn't have been there in person when he needed her most (which she feels guilty over). As for her relationship with Scott, she would like to think that they could at least move past the pain and guilt.
Loyalty: Xmen, To her students (if any), to Scott
Physical Appearance: Sexy red head, with bright green eyes that hold an unfathomable sadness (which she tries to hide). Height: Taller than Logan..... 5'7. Weight: Lighter than Logan.... (shame on you for asking a girl her weight), when you can float, weight doesn't seem to matter. BUT if you MUST know, 140ish? Curvy, those sweets go to her hips after all.
History: complicated
She grew up perfectly normal on a perfectly normal street to two perfectly normal parents. Her father, John Grey, was a professor of the History Department at Bard College. Her mother, Elaine Grey, was a stay at home Mom, the type who makes quilts for church socials and arranges play dates with her daughter’s friends at school and volunteers at the P.T.A. After Jean, her parents couldn’t conceive again, but neither felt that it was an absence in their lives. Jean was everything they ever wanted in a daughter. For the first ten years, Jean grew up and thrived with loving, well-adjusted and educated parents in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. She drove her big brothers Liam and Roger, crazy with pranks, and she was the baby sister that Sarah and Julia always wanted. She never said no to tea parties, or rough housing with the boys in the back yard. She even had a best friend, Annie Richardson, whom she almost spent every waking moment with since kindergarten.
Until one day, during her tenth summer, when Annie was hit by a car while they were playing on the street. Jean rushed to her friend’s side, and, in one moment, everything in her world changed. As Annie died, Jean’s latent telepathic powers breached the walls between their minds- and Jean felt her friend die. Mentally connected to her best friend, Jean felt like she was dying too… and in a way, she was. Jean the human died, and gave way to Jean the freak who could feel ‘everything’ around her. She felt her parents worry, and their secret relief that it wasn’t their daughter dead on the asphalt in a freak accident. She could feel the driver of that fateful car horrified and deeply saddened by the accident. Annie’s parents… the other kids… each a voice, each an emotion driving deeper and deeper…
Was it any surprise that she had to hide in her room for days, weeks.. months.. After the incident to keep the “voices” away? Who heard voices were crazy people… Jean didn’t want to be crazy, but she couldn’t get the hugs from her mother she desperately wanted without feeling her own mother’s guilt and depression over her behavior. Her mother’s thought’s leaking into her own. It was torture to go out into the world to the psychiatrists every week.. and it was heaven set when Charles Xavier came to her parents’ house and made the voices. Stop.
It was the first time since Annie died that she was alone in her head. It didn’t take her long to accept his offer, and help convince her parents, to allow her to go to his school. When she was thirteen, Jean developed her stronger, secondary talent of telekinesis. During one of her sessions, she reached out and touched Scott Summers’s mind with her powers, identifying him to Xavier, as well as leaving a light brand… One he and she would never forget. Xavier placed light mind blocks on her telepathic powers, allowing her to have the freedom of her mind, without being overwhelmed by others until her control was enough that she herself, could control it.
She wasn’t the first X-man, of course, that was dropped into Cyclops, Iceman, Angel and Beast’s laps. But she was the first girl and something of a mascot to the boys. Jean took on the code name “Marvel Girl.” IN the School for Gifted Youngsters, the original X-men are tutored by Professor Xavier and trained in the use of their powers in the Danger Room. They remain together for several years and formed bonds of friendship.
Jean and Scott’s relationship though didn’t bloom overnight. It took a long time for the two of them to find common ground. It was at Bobby’s sixteenth birthday party that they had their first kiss. They were in their twenties when they decided to attempt to progress further- you know… until that whole phoenix business. She had other boys to flirt with too, including a brief sojorn with Warren Worthington III (Angel) but it was old One eye who kept her heart.
After Jean officially graduated Xavier’s school, her parents got her entrance into Metro College. During this time Jean only moonlighted as an X-men, focusing on her education and being a “normal” girl. Including dating people who didn’t have mutant powers. Her heart though remained with her team, and after graduating resumed her Super hero status. She was one of the only people that Xavier trusted to keep his secret about going into seclusion to deal with an alien invasion… He removed the blocks he had on her telepathy. She worked as a model, and even managed to date Scott on the side.
It wasn’t until a mission in space with the Fantastic Four to defeat Z’Nox once and for all did Jean first feel the Phoenix Force (PF). This force was ancient and it had its own plans. Shenanigan’s happened… Stars went boom, Crystals in the Shiar empire were healed and chaos was thwarted.. Oh so she had to .. have a few deaths (or near death experiences..) and like the ancient force that lent her it’s power in exchange for her body- she rose from those experiences… scared… changed… a new and different woman…. (None of that clone crap, Jean was body snatched and taken for a ride.. then dumped..)
(Where Canon takes a whirlie gig turn and falls off a cliff…) The Phoenix force, after it’s sacrifice on the moon, was taken with Jean, to the White Hot Room. Jean and the Phoenix force gave rest and paid the price for playing with too much power without responsibility. Jean separated herself from the P.F. and requested to be placed, back down in Jamaica Bay where all this crap started. Back to where it went… well.. Phoenix-y. Death, and the P.F. Agree, sending her back to earth… Only part of her gets separated and tossed into Maddie. That part, critical to Jeans actual awakening is lost… Madelyne Pryor takes upon the life that was Jeans (again, no P.F., just straight powers and temper with a touch of her mental umph --- Jean can body snatch with ole Professor X so this isn’t’ all that hard to imagine… ) And Madelyne does her.. “thing”..
Jean only comes back when Madelyne’s decision to commit suicide and take as many people with her as possible, finds her body sleeping in a cocoon in Jamaica bay. Awakened, though weakened, Jean goes to Madelyne psychicly and reclaims her power and her memories.. she offers to put Madelyne to sleep, to combine them into one and become who she was always meant to be. Herself.
Madelyne agrees. Her body dies and her memories slide into Jeans, safely kept into a locker in Jean’s mind where she can rest in peace and her dreams not be forgotten under the manipulations of badbad men.
It isn’t an instant waking.. Jean is still weak and well, she’s now died more times than anyone sane can deal with. She opts to go home to her parents’ house. To meet her nieces and nephews, to reacquaint herself with her family…. To tie herself back into her own skin, with her own family and her own life. One that doesn’t involve her going out and dying every five seconds for the betterment of the world or her X-men family.
But life isn’t content. She watches, as the world watches, the events of the Shadow King and the destruction of her sometimes home. She is stronger now, in mind, and body… and while her heart is not sure what awaits her, she finds it is time to go back to Xavier’s Mansion… and find out if there is really a life for her there, or if it’s truly time for her to move on.
RP Sample:
Jeannie woke up on what seemed to be a floating disk surrounded by space, and I mean SPACE Space with only a moment to think.
*Ok so I'm in white... why white? If Green is good, Red is evil, then what does the white represent?, oh well, I'll think about this later.*
Then she turned around.
It was strange. There she was, in the White Hot Room facing the Phoenix Force (Who looked like an old woman version of her) and a .... male Construction Worker? Well this was just awkward. Apparently the Construction Worker was Death, and an aspect of the Phoenix Force as well..... YEP complicated and weird described her life and apparently death, perfectly. And yet for some reason she had a baaaadddd feeling that things were going to not just get weirder but more painful for her.
HERE it comes..... the catch...
Why did she feel like if Hell existed, this was probably going to be it. She was dead after all, and had done some HORRIBLE things as the Dark Phoenix. Yet here she stood before the two entities, dressed in a white and gold version of her green uniform. And they were chatting away with her as if everything was .... normal.... well normal for them, DEAD for her.
As a means of atonement Death had Jean build towers in the afterlife to house the souls of Dark Phoenix's victims. Jean was also to relive the experience of the destruction of the D'Bari system from the point of view of the victims. Neither part was fun, and the second was far more painful than one normal human could handle, let alone one that was inherently good like herself.
Death speaks first "Once you've completed your tasks, we will determine what to do with you, sound fair?" The construction worker turned towards the old woman, whom smiled somberly and nodded. Why did it feel like this was all in her head? Like she was actually talking to various versons of herself? Maybe she's really in a coma, and simply trying to cope with all she'd done and this is how her mind decided to help her? YEP she'd gone crazy, and the construction worker was proof.
With that, One by one, she built new homes for the dead at a cosmic level. Experienced their pain, fear, everything as she did. It was torture, this was HELL. And she had no idea what was in store for her afterwards.
Once done, she re approached Death and Phoenix.
"I'm finally done." Tears shone in her eyes, the pain evident within them as she spoke. She had learned what ever it was they wanted her to understand. "So what's next?"
The old Jean spoke quietly and smiled warmly, as if she were her mother. "Now child you go home. We just need you to take care of one more poor soul once you're there. You'll know who I mean when you get there."
Jean sighed softly and looked at the Phoenix. "Are you coming with me?" A part of Jean was filled with dread at the idea that she'd be burdened with the Phoenix Force once again.
"No child, I have lived, loved, experienced enough to fill me a lifetime. And I have accomplished what I had originally set out to do. Heal the M'Kraan Crystal. You're on your own now. Is there anywhere you'd like to be put as you reawaken?"
Jeannie thought for a moment, as nostalgia kicked in. " Jamaica Bay please. Since that's were we first met, and merged." With that, the old woman and the construction worker nodded and sent her back to earth, without the Phoenix Force.
