Basics: Kurohashi, Hikari "Elena". "Glimmer"
((Note to admins, I get it written as the title, and I get it written below in full and code name.. writing it with "basics" is kind of.. overkill isn't it? ))
Full Name: Kurohashi, Hikari (Family name, First name) in America she goes by the name “Elena Kurohashi”
Codename: Glimmer
Nicknames: Elena, Hikari, and Jelly (her father and mother pretty much she isn’t close enough to anyone else to have a personal nickname)
Type: Original.
Gender: Female
Species: Homo superior (mutant)
Age: 17
Date of Birth: February 5th
Hometown: Kyoto, Japan
Current Residence: Moving, (Xavier’s school is the target landing!)
Loyalty: Neutral/ Looking for a loyalty home.
Occupation: High school Student
Hair Colour: Blond
Eye Colour: Grass Green
Height: [In feet and inches.] 4’11”
Weight: [In pounds.] 102 lbs
Body Type: Hikari is petite and doll like. Her skin is white- and her eyes are large, and when she’s with her father it’s very hard to tell she’s Japanese at all- looking far more European in descent. Her body type is curvy and she has a few pounds to her, but not over weight.
Typical Style: Girlie, very girlie. The poor girl thinks if she doesn’t look like a rainbow threw up on her she’d fade into the background or something. She usually wears layers of things that have a very ‘otaku’ look to them.
Distinguishing Features: Hikari has a small crescent moon birthmark (or tattoo though her father’s never said one way or another) on the inside of her left wrist. She also has a long scar along her right inner thigh from an accident in her childhood.
Physical Mutations: None so far.
Uniform: Glimmer made her own uniform- well that probably accounts for both the rainbows in it, as well as it's somewhat unusual "uniform" qualities. Having said that, Glimmer wears a skin tight white body suit with thin sleeves just at the shoulders (her arms are bare) and the body suit ends in shorts about mid-thigh. Over that she has a thin material that shimmers like rainbows- it flows all the way down to her ankles and is very full, allowing a complete freedom of movement. Thanks to modern technology and cloth being produced to be more durable- this material is surprisingly hard to catch or rip on random things- that doens't mean a good knife won't slice that sucker to ribbons! The body suit's top gets similiar treatment with a shirt that is like an open button down shirt (sans buttons)- no ruffles and long flowing sleeves to her fingertips in a "bell" shape. She carries around a length of white ribbon for her throat and a rainbow ribbon to catch up her hair in a high pony tail. She even has a white domino mask and silky veil that she put son her lower face and eyes to "protect her identity."
No. She hasn't gone out into public yet in this outfit, but hey... It folds up easily enough in her carry on or under her clothes and she can always go "henshin" (transform) if she's called upon to fight the forces of darkness! (... Newbie..)
Personality: Hikari (or Elena as she will constantly correct herself trying to fit in at a new place) is very upbeat and look toward the bright side of everything. She tries to find the best in everyone- even the most dark and horrid. “Trusting” and “Naïve” are two typical words that are whirled around her. She has a child like delight in the world, from the littlest things with great highs and lows. She is a natural conversationalist and loves to talk.. and talk.. and talk.. Hopefully as she grows more mature she’ll stabilize a bit – but now, in that awkward teenager phase she tends to leap before looking.
Family: Hikari’s Dad is Setsuna Kurohashi, an animal doctor back in Kyoto. He has no other children besides Hikari and is a “single dad.” He has, for years, staved off all of the old mother’s attempts to get him remarried- and only this previous month given in. Hikari’s never met her new step mom having been away at school- then shipped out to Xavier’s upon her power’s awakening.
Stepmom (I like leaving some things open)
Mom: Kaguya-hime
Hikari’s Dad has always told Hikari about her mom as a moon princess, Kaguya-hime. Certainly her father has never manifested or displayed any sort of mutant (or other supernatural power of his own.) He says that Kaguya-hime once came to him during one of the festivals and that their love was powerful enough to last many years before, Hikari was given to her father. Once Kaguya-hime gave Setsuna the baby Hikari, telling him her name, she had vanished never to be seen again. Setsuna says Hikari looks like her mother.
[Note: Originally this character's mom was really a moon spirit- a minor "deity" of the moon. Not unlike your Luna or Artemis of greek mythology... She could of just been a woman who had mutant powers- and, like her daughter, had a thing for light orbs and electricity... I'm really really open to whatever fits what's going on in the story... And I don't have any real plans for 'mommy' to magically appear. ]
History:
Hikari’s parents met, fell in love, and had her in a whirl wind romance that the Kyoto hometown district still chuckle about over tea and sake when the mood takes them. Her father, a well-known animal doctor known for his patience and skill was always well liked, from a child to a grown man. When he became a single father that like didn’t stop and there were certainly plenty of willing hands to help with a smiling, laughing baby who never seemed to have a sour moment.
Hikari was an even more sweet tempered (if impish) toddler and child. Her father never remarried, content to let women, married, single, old, cook and clean and care for Hikari in repayment for services to their animals. Hikari herself required little more than a few hugs now and again before she’d toddle off on her most recent “adventure.” That sort of thing didn’t change even as she began to go to school and take over more and more of the house duties for her father- giving and getting lessons from other women and girls who came to the store looking for help with their pets.
Hikari has a fair knowledge, then from her childhood of both being independent and of taking care of sick animals of all shapes and sizes. It wasn’t until she turned 14 that things began to change. It started off small, like being able to make glowing balls when she wanted to read under the covers different stories about her mom- the moon princess, or who must be her sister the sun goddess.. which of course branched off into reading all kinds of mythology and legends…) No one was bothered by it and she knew it wasn’t usual, the whole manifesting glowing balls thing so she kept it to herself.
Then one day at school one of the girls decided that Hikari was faking being cheerful and sunny all the time. She went out of her way to try to get Hikari to cry. Hikari never got that whole bullying thing, and most people if they didn’t like her thought it was too much of a hasstle after a few passes of being mean to just drop it. But this girl,
Kanabe, Anza did not have any qualms about being ill patient for getting Hikari to cry and prove she was human. It wasn’t until Hikari had fallen down a short flight of stairs, skinned both knees and her palms and was sniffing back tears that things got “real.” Hikari, angry, hurt and not just a little frustrated with the other girl manifested something akin to a lightning bolt, zapping the other girl. Thankfully, and perhaps luckily to boot besides a nasty shock to her system the other girl recovered fine.
For Hikari though, she was ashamed of her loss of control and behavior. Her father certainly let her have it and lectured her the entire way home on the train, on the walk to the shop… and finally when she thought he had finally run out of things to say, he brought her mother into it. He sent her to a Shinto temple in Tokyo to try to purify the mean spirit out of her and make peace with the spirits so her ability to manipulate light would end.
When it became apparent to the old miko (priestess) at the temple that Hikari was another of the specially abled who needed special training, she suggested Xavier’s school. Her father, recently engaged to be married, quickly agreed to send Hikari to the school in America. It took time, of course, to get the paperwork together. Hikari remained at the temple learning how to mediate and, on her own, some control over her growing powers.
Now she’s on her way to Xavier’s.
OOC NOTE: I don’t think Japan had the mutant registration act, and if so her Dad/miko wouldn’t of played up to it unless they absolutely had too so I’m going to say she’s flying under the radar of the Act and if the admins feel that’s not cool, we’ll change it! She also has strengthening/wanning powers depending on the moon’s position to the earth. (IE: During the new moon her powers flicker and aren’t much to speak with and are harder to use.. whereas during the full moon they are quite powerful indeed.
Additional Note: the old temple miko has some contact with the old x-men group... Xmen have historically had MANY adventures in Japan so it's not that unthinkable that the miko would be able to get in contact with someone back at the x-men compound to wiggle little hikari in- or at worst, know about it and send her over with a letter saying "please accept this child for training" ... Again, open to either)
Classification: Delta
Powers:
Moon Orbs- These small glowing orbs, roughly baseball sized can create and manifest light. This light can't be considered sunlight as its far more like reflected light. This power does not burn on touch, nor can it do any damage. Nope, it just makes light. Their range is pretty awesome, and she can make as many she wants- at best in battle this can blind friend and foe alike with a white moonlight glow- but that's if she makes a ton and she's probably going to be exhausted afterwards.
Moonlight Bolt This is a bolt of “electricity” or “moonlight” that can zap and stun a person- it can do damage in some places, but like electricity it can be countered or misdirected. This is - at max distance- only a 5 foot away thing. Extreme close range to get the energy that focused for that long to do any damage what so ever. If it hits, it will most likely stun a person for a few seconds before they can shake it off.
Healing This is a power Hikari has yet to call upon- sort of one of her powers in development… She hasn’t found a need, a real need to blast it into existence. This power of healing is quite powerful and can heal the most grievous of wounds. However it takes Hikari’s energy to use and can result in her death if the wounds she’s healing are so extreme or spread out over many people and she doesn’t hold in enough energy for herself. This is limited by her ability to touch- and when she heals she's surrounded by a glowing aura of moonlight - which also is an "OH SHOOT ME NOW" type of beacon. Great for healing- sucks for battle fields where people may be aiming for targets.
[begging and pleading...
Moonlight Illusions- these simple illusions are visual only. They can be very complete in their visual illusion or very simple and flickering. They can't cause damage (unless say it's an illusion of a spider and someone whacks themselves real hard enough to do damage? ) But the power itself does not do any physical, mental, or supernatural harm. They are just, for the most part, pretty pictures that can move and be 3 dimensional.
Empathy- Hikari has a strong empathetic ability to sense 'strong' emotions, such as happiness, sadness, anger, etc. This is not so fine tuned as to pick up little things, but the obvious ones- she can sense. And she can sense them from quite a distance- up to a few miles. It's perhaps the biggest reason why she works so hard to be an up beat person- there's only so much misery and heartbreak a person can deal with before they start to snarl.
Skills:
Hikari has much experience with animal doctoring. (This could be on some levels easily transferred to doctoring/first aiding humans. Not anything too extreme (like say a real doctor) but good for triage.
She’s got some skills with computer, a very good education…
She can cook both American and Japanese cuisine.
Speed reading.
Weaponry: None yet.
Role Play Sample:
Hikari stood at the edge of the airplane’s exit. The small door didn’t seem like a gateway into a huge new big world. She turned her head left, then right, taking in the “new world” before her. How many other immigrants came to this country hoping for something new? Something different? Hikari straightened her shoulders and stepped down onto the first step of the staircase heading to the ground. It was luck, and the help of a nice older gentleman behind her that kept her upright and not tumbling down the stairs.
Balance apparently wasn’t fixed by entering a new life. She turned and flashed a smile to the old man holding her arm. “Ari…I mean thank you!” She said. When he let go and held a guiding hand out to catch her should she mistake the next step for a long fall, she slowly made her way down the stairs and onto the tarmac. She bowed, formally to the kind old man before she could stop herself. Old ways would have to give way to new ways- but for now this was a small thing she could do to someone who saved her more scraped body parts.
He smiled and bowed back before moving to the exit where “Baggage claim” was flashing in neon. Hikari watched him as he was greeted by a younger woman with a child. Her lips quirked up in a smile. It must be good to have someone meet you at their airport with love in their hearts. She bounced her over the shoulder carryon bag with her most essential of things- a change of clothes, her mp3 player, and the small laptop she had wheedled out of her allowance working at the temple. The things that would make her conversion to America all the easier.
Your Name: Joy, please, it’s what all my friends call me
Other Characters:
I will be putting storm in for approval as soon as I can finish her profile. So when Hikari clears her 10 posts- or if people would MUCH rather have storm, then after Storm clears her 10 posts I can have Hikari. (I'm okay with starting with either one of these characters to begin with.. Hikari's profile just got done first for eyeballs and approvals.)
