OOC Rules

1. Respect and obey the staff. The interpretation and enforcement of all rules is at staff discretion, and the staff may waive rules if they decide there is good cause.

2. Respect your follow members; use basic forum courtesy (no flaming, trolling, double-posting or spamming).

3. No swearing or sexually explicit content, nor links to the same.

4. Signatures may be a maximum of 200 x 500. Drawn images only, no photographs.

5. Do not make demands on staff; in particular, do not ask to be staff.

6. Read the rules first. Ask the staff only if your question has not been answered.

Roleplay Rules

1. Posts should be at least one decent paragraph long (about 150 words), and must give the others in the thread something to respond to.

2. No power playing or god modding. (Taking control of another person’s character/having an invincible character.)

3. A player character may not be killed without the player's express permission, unless the thread specifies otherwise.

4. Post in paragraphs, complete sentences and at least make an attempt at good grammar. If your writing is below the site's standards, you may be asked to work with the staff on improving it.

5. Do not use smilies in role play.

6. When starting a thread, please include the in-character date at the head of the post.

7. Bold or colour dialogue.

8. Graphic violent and sexual content is, as per Proboards TOS, prohibited. So that means don't do it. PG-13 rating here, folks. Mild swearing is allowed in-character.

9. If your character is speaking a language other than English for more than a few words, either include a translation or write it in English with brackets < > around the text and the original language in parentheses. For example, <Yes, I believe the moon is going to be full tonight> (German).

General Character Rules

1. One character per account.

2. Your characters' display name should be their codename if they have one (codenames are required for X-Men, X-Force, X-Students, Brotherhood, and Marauders). If they do not have a codename, then it should be their given name and surname, in that order. Proper capitalization, no extraneous symbols.

3. You must make at least 10 posts with your last accepted player character before applying for a new one. Please do not post up more than one application at a time, whether player or non-player character.

4. X-Men canons only. No other canons will be accepted.

5. Originals are welcome too; however, we do not accept original X-Men. X-Men may be recruited in-character, typically from X-Students.

6. This board is based loosely on the comics. However, a good deal of canon has been removed or modified.

7. If you wish your original character to have interacted with a canon, or someone else's OC, please ask permission from the player if possible. Otherwise, check with staff.

8. Do NOT copy off your history or personality from a site such as Comic Vine or Wikipedia. Also do not post another person's character claiming them as your own. You will be caught and banned.

9. A character may be denied after three reviews if the staff feel that little to no progress has been made with the process.

10. If a canon is needed for a plot and has no player, contact an admin.

11. If you wish to change your character's loyalty, please notify the staff.

12. You must make an in-character post once a week, and post for every character at least once every two weeks. If you are unable to, post an away notice, and make arrangements for those who are threading with you. Failing this, inactive characters will be removed in addition to the normal penalties for breaking the rules.

13. The staff may also take away characters if they feel the player is abusing them.

14. The Phoenix Force may not be claimed by anyone at all no matter what.

15. All applications now require the approval of two members of staff.

Classification Rules

1. Classification is based on current ability, not potential. They can be upgraded later by admin approval. Contact staff via PM to facilitate this.

2. Non-canon students cannot be above Beta level.

3. Players initially have only one Alpha-level slot. Based on performance and attitude, the staff may award another Alpha slot, or an Omega slot. Unless and until these additional slots are awarded, Omegas and further Alphas may not be created.

5. ‘Zeta’ refers to anyone, born mutant or otherwise, who received powers from a source other than mutation. However, although this is their designation, they will be roughly equivalent to one of the other power classes and will be judged as such. Please include the equivalent power class in your application next to ‘Zeta’ in parentheses, like so:

NPC Rules

1. NPCs (Non-Player Characters) exist to help flesh out the story, as supporting characters in the background and tools to further the main plot arc. Registered NPCs, like PCs, may not be godmodded or metagamed against; however, they may be killed without special consent. NPCs also are exempt from the activity rules -- they need only be played when necessary. The privilege of controlling NPCs may also be revoked if the staff feels a player is abusing it.

2. To play an NPC, a profile must be posted using the NPC Profile Form. It will be reviewed by staff in the same manner as a PC application.

3. Before submitting her first application for an NPC, a player must have a combined total of forty posts between all her accounts. However, once the first NPC is approved, no further post counts need to be met to apply for additional NPCs (please refrain from posting multiple applications at the same time, though).

4. NPCs are divided into four categories. These are: private, public, group, and staff. Private NPCs are made and controlled by a single player. Public NPCs can be played by anyone (but major actions require the creator's consent). Group NPCs can only be made and played by the leader of a faction (or by staff if the faction leader has not been claimed). Staff or plot NPCs can only be made and played by staff.

5. Private and public NPCs may not exceed Beta in power rank, and are normally subject to the same character bans as PCs.

6. Group NPCs are not usually bound by character bans. One NPC may be Alpha per faction; this does not count against the group leader's Alpha slots. Given the purpose of group NPCs, they must belong to and be loyal to the faction of the leader that makes them.

7. Staff NPCs are not affected by bans. They may be of any class, and they do not count against the player's slots. (Staff NPCs are normally to be played by their creator, though other staff members may play them by permission). Unlike other NPCs, staff NPCs may not be killed without staff permission (as they typically serve some crucial function).

8. Players may have three private NPCs per account. Group leaders may have four NPCs on their account, provided that at least two of them are group NPCs. Players may not have more than nine private NPCs in total. Public and staff NPCs do not count against these limits.

9 The staff may, at times, use canons as NPCs. They are to be accorded the same status as PCs.

Disciplinary System

1. Warning bars will be given out as the staff sees fit.

2. Only staff members and the warned member can see the bar.

3. 10% warnings are given out for each minor offense, 20% for moderate offenses and 30% for major offenses.

4. Anyone reaching 50% or above (this excludes the profile warnings) will have their account disabled for three days.

5. A 100% warning level equals a ban.

6. Breaking the CBox rules repeatedly will result in a warning bar and a CBox ban.

7. Every month gone with out any rule breaking takes 10% off the warning bar.
