Uniform: Ilene wears a pastel pink cropped coat over a bodice of the same colour with steel-boning along with a short skirt, ‘cheerleader’ shorts, and knee-high boots. Each piece is made from an indestructible material the X-Men use and the X-Emblem is clearly seen at the base of her bodice.
Personality: Ilene is a polite, shy girl who blushes at the very thought of anything perverse. Although extremely intelligent and secretly humorous, her lack of confidence makes it difficult for her to speak out, much-less sing. She hates to be looked at and this has a lot to do with the weight problems she had in the past. She feels that she could never be pretty enough for anyone.
Thea is a different person entirely: She is the skinny girl hidden inside the “fat” girl’s body, and she is nearly Ilene’s opposite. Outspoken and assertive to the point of being rude, she is the voice that screams in the back of Ilene’s mind everything that Ilene wishes she had the confidence to say. Where Ilene thinks of herself as ugly and fat, Thea is pretty and perfectly slender. Or, at least, she would be if she wasn’t trapped in the body of Ilene.

Schmitt, Richard, (Paternal Grandfather. Alive)
Schmitt, Ilene, (Paternal Grandmother. Deceased)

History: Born in Aberdeen City, Scotland, Ilene Susan Schmitt lived in the small, one-farm Hamlet called Lost in Aberdeenshire for most of her life. As soon as she was old enough, she began to work on the aforementioned farm along with the rest of the family. As soon as she was old enough, Ilene worked on the farm along with the rest of her family and spending much of her free time with her ‘Mammy’ Sutter. She would sing to Ilene while they knitted, collected plants, or did other household chores
Lost is an extremely small town, and so everyone literally knew everyone else by name and nearly everyone had a nickname. Ilene received hers early in life, back before she discovered a love of chocolate: ‘Lean’. The name itself was rather ridiculous, simply the shortened version of an already short name; however, as she got older, the name became increasingly ironic as her waist began to expand. The constant teasing destroyed what little confidence she had, and she began to wish that she was a different person entirely.
Around the age of 13, a ‘new’ fad had reached the little Hamlet. Several girls began dressing in black clothing and giving themselves ‘unique’ names. Ilene went along with it by dying several of her dresses black, adding lace, and even giving herself the name ‘Thea’. It made her think of someone beautiful, thin, and confident: exactly what she wished to be. The fad did not last long, having been quelled by several adults, including “Mammy”, who did not approve; the damage, however, was done although Ilene did not yet realize it.
The next three years of the girl’s life were nearly unbearable and she fell into a deep depression. In the back of her mind Ilene couldn’t help but feel as if something was wrong with her life. She felt as if she should be somewhere else, or at least, someone else and couldn’t shake it off. The only thing that gave her solace was her singing; it was the only thing she was good at. In fact, she was the best in the entire Hamlet. Finally, she made her decision, Ilene could not be her true self in such a place and so she collected what little money she had saved and hitched a ride to Aberdeen City. Here, she purchased a one-way ticket to London where she knew auditions were about to be held.
In London, she used nearly all her money just to live out the few days before the auditions and her stress began to mount. That little voice in the back of her head became louder and louder, making snide comments and observations that Ilene herself would have never thought of. The voice was there when she stepped onto that stage for the first time, and the voice remained after she stepped off, rejected. Ilene couldn’t understand it, she knew for a fact that she was far better than the others that she heard singing and yet they had turned her away? The voice, Thea, as she called herself, was quick to point out: Who wants ta listen to a fat girl sing anythin' but Opera?
The remark was the final straw. Ilene could not take any more and so she used the only weapon in her arsenal: her voice. The scream began low, barely audible. Plaster flaked off the ceiling of the auditorium and the glass panes of the windows began to shudder. The sound gradually rose in pitch, from an uncomfortable ring to an unbearable shriek. Small items vibrated off of shelves and fell to the floor, breaking upon impact. Still the note grew, higher and higher, causing the mirrors in the bathrooms to crack. All around, light bulbs exploded in their sockets, and the windows gave way, shattering into the evening sky. Then, when it felt as if the scream would continue on forever, it stopped. The resulting silence was suffocating, broken only by the occasional thud or tinkle.
Ilene was quick to realize what she had done and quickly made it for the exit before the shock could fully wear off. The head start was her salvation and was able to make it down the street and into a crowded store before the guards from the audition had a chance to catch up with her. As soon as she thought it was safe, Ilene chose to head back to her hotel unaware that her little act had caught the attention of more than just a talent show. By the time she made it back to her hostel, members of the X-Men were waiting for her. They explained to her what she was and although it was hard to digest, she was intrigued by the offer of help with her powers (even Thea thought it was a good idea) but she was concerned what her family might think. Besides, she hadn’t exactly gotten permission to go to London.
The X-men took her back home to Lost, Aberdeenshire where they explained everything to her worried family. To Ilene’s surprise, her family and much of the hamlet were already aware of her unique abilities. After all, how else was she able to sing in harmony with herself? Ilene wasn’t even aware that she had ever done so. With her family’s blessing she traveled to New York City to train at the Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters. During the next to years she worked tirelessly on improving her powers and her body. Although she now sports a more toned appearance, she still has moments of insecurity where she still sees herself as the chubby, miserable girl she once was.
The past year she has been posting songs, (original and rendtions), on her youtube account. She's got a little following of fans. She also plans to attend Juliard once she graduates from the X-School.
The rise of the MRA was a scary thing for Ilene, she isn’t yet ready for the world to know she is a mutant for fear that it might ruin her chances as a singer in the future. For now she’s banking on the fact she is not a citizen of the United States of America and is only in the country on a Student Visa.
Classification: Delta
Powers: Voice has highly advanced vocal chords which can allow her to produce a sonic scream of various frequencies. It also allows her to speak or sing in every possible range of human hearing* and even mimic the voices and sounds of other people and animals. With training, she has already learned throw her voice like a ventrilaquist. Thanks to her advanced chords, she can sing or speak in three different voices/tones in harmony; however, the three separate voices cannot say three different things at one time. Due to her personality disorder, the 'last voice' is often female in sound, no matter how Ilene manipulates the first.
Also, she can generate a psionic field which helps aim and protect her from her sonic vibrations and doubles as a psionic block. It was first assumed that this was due to her dissociative identity disorder because Voice is often of ‘two minds’ about everything. It was thought that due to this ‘duality’ that unless an attack was aimed at ‘both minds’ the ‘inner personality’ was unaffected
*The lowest sound that she has ever made was 16 Hertz, the highest recorded was 20,000 Hertz.
Skills: Singing, Guitar and Piano, Herbalism, (she was trained in both by ‘Mammy Sutton’ back in Lost) Basic hand-to-hand, Cooking, Knitting, Sewing and Farming. She is also fluent in Gaelic. Some computer skills.
Weaponry: A pair of steel knitting needles.
Role Play Sample: Each bounding step had come as a stabbing pain to Ilene’s underbelly as she struggled to catch up with the rest of her gym class as they hurried into the locker room. Hot and sweaty, her cheeks burned doubly so when she discovered the teacher’s fierce but beautiful violet eyes upon her. It had taken her strength just to turn and walk through the door without crying, today had simply been appalling! She made it to her locker and slumped down onto the bench before it, hoping to take a breather before going to the showers. ‘I coulda run circles ‘round those gels,’ said a reedy voice deep in the bowels of her mind, ‘most of ‘em, anyway. Lot of ‘em even lapped you.’[/i]
“Shut up!” Ilene hissed and blushed again when she saw the bewildered expression on the girl next to her. “Not you, so’ry!” To avoid further embarrassment, she grabbed her things and headed for the showers while Thea simply laughed and began to chatter about the various mutants on campus. Namely, Thea ranted about what her powers would be. “You are not a mutant,” Ilene finally said as the water went on, "you are a figment o’ me imagination.”
‘Really now?’[/i] Snapped Thea, ‘Then imagine this![/i]' Ilene’s left hand shot up, striking her palm first against her cheek. Bare feet slipped on wet concrete and down she went with a wet ‘splat’. When her vision cleared, she found herself staring up at violet eyes yet again. Oh, what a day.
