Distinguishing Features: A single piercing in each earlobe.
Physical Mutations: N/A
Uniform: Jean usually wears a contrasting green and yellow uniform. In her days of the phoenix she did wear a red uniform, that toned in well with her natural hair colour. She will often wear boots or heels that match the uniform. She often has the small, yellow phoenix across her chest, and a yellow sash tied at her waist.
Personality: Jean is a warm and caring person. She feels compassion and would go out of her way to do a friend a kindness. However, Jean is a very loyal person she would stand by a fellow X Man, or student until the end, regardless of her own wellbeing. Despite this, she does not suffer fools, and would not tolerate someone taking advantage of her kindness, and mistaking it for weakness. She can have a temper. She can blow her stack easily, and when she does, she's lost it. She is practical and hardworking, when she has put her mind to something, she is determined, and will do her best to see it through to the end.
Family: Elaine and John Grey (Parents, deceased) Sara Grey-Bailey (sister, deceased), Scott Summers (ex-husband)
History: Jean's powers came to be, when she saw her best friend, Annie, hit by a car. Annie died in Jean's arms, and as she did so, Jean connected with Annie, and was able to feel her pain and fear. The incident left Jean in a coma, but her powers had been awakened.
Shortly after, Jean was sent to the Xavier school for Gifted Youngsters. It was there that she trained, both physically and mentally. She also met Scott Summers. After many life changing events (for instance the time when Jean was Phoenix) the pair got married.
Many years later, the X-Men were aboard a Space ship. Having defeated the bad guy, and his sentinels, it should seem that the mission was over. However, the ship was set to crash. Jean sacrificed herself for her team members, and most importantly, Scott. She did her best to steer the craft home, but at the last moment the shield failed. Jean was subject to massive radiation. The ship crashed into the water, but the X-Men survived. Thus, Jean became Phoenix.
Her new and improved powers, and different state of mind and personality, meant that she wasn't really Jean. She, as Dark Phoenix, went on a rampage. She attacks her former colleges, and loses control of her powers. For a moment, she regains her true thoughts and commits suicide, knowing that no-one would truly be able to stop the Phoenix.
Jean was found in a pod, at the bottom of the sea. She had no memories of the crash or anything that had happened during it. But, it is said that it was a cosmic entity (Phoenix Force) that took her form, personality and memories and took her place, whilst Jean healed from the radiation in the pod. She rejoins the X-Men.
Many duties at the school meant that she and Scott grew apart a little. She tried to maintain and improve the relationship, but he turned to Emma Frost for comfort. Jean found the two... they told her they merely had a 'telepathic affair.' But it was too much for her, Jean lost her temper and attacked Emma, one of her many regrets about the whole affair. She continued to teach at the school despite there being awkwardness between the trio.
Jean feels uncomfortable and threatented by the Mutant Registration Act. She can't place her finger on it, but something doesn't seem right. She has tried to push these fears down, and if asked, she reminds them of the benefits of it. She is trying to believe that at last, there is something out there to help mutants, but the cynical voice inside of her can't be hushed.
Classification: Alpha.
Powers:
Telepathy. Jean's telepathy grants her the ability to read the thoughts and minds of others. She has actively done her best to train and hone this power as to not accidentally enter someone's mind without their permission. She can also speak to others telepathically. This is especially useful on a mission if there needs to be silent communication. Jean is able to use Cerebro, though she isn't as skilled as the Professor. She is training with Professor Xavier to work on improving both her mutant powers.
This power also allows her to travel to the Astral Plane.
Telekinesis. Jean can use her mind to move all sorts of things. Smaller objects and movements take less concentration and effort. Her mind is strong enough to lift weights she would normally be unable to shift, and allows her strength that is physically beyond her. She can also create force field by bringing up telekinetic barriers that can deflect both physical and energy based attacks.
Phoenix Force. When Jean was possessed by the cosmic entity that is the Phonix Force, she had the ability to manipulate cosmic energy and she could toy with the life-force of the future, and absorb any sort of energy. This can then in turn be used by her to project destructive energy. It amplified Jean's own mutant abilities to incredible new levels.
Though the full power of the Phonix Force is unknown, and very possibly unlimited. When the Jean was being controlled by the Phoenix Force she was an Omega level mutant.
Skills: Caring Nature, Listening, Organising
Weaponry: N/A
Role Play Sample: Jean ran and crouched down behind a burnt out car as yet more shots were fired in her direction. She rested her back against what was once a vehicle and caught her breath. She blew her bangs from her eyes, and thought for a moment. She hated these sort of tests that they were put through. No...she thought to herself. She had to act like this was real. Though she doubted that if she was the only one left, she would be out there fighting. She supposed that at least it made Wolvervine happy.
She knew that there were two Sentinels close by. She needed to deal with those ones first. She would worry about the others if... when they came. She squeezed her eyes shut, her jaw clenched, her brow furrowed, in concentration. She heard the crack of metal from behind her, followed by the tear and rip of metal as an arm was pulled from one Sentinel, and crashed into the other. She put up her shield as yet more shots were fired by one standing Sentinel, but this time she did not run. She used her shield to direct the fire back to the metal monster. She tilted the angle slightly, and after a moment the shots headed back to their owner. Hitting the head and chest piece he crackled and sizzled in a most satisfying manner before freezing and falling to the ground. She dusted off her hands as the Danger Room came back into focus and she waited to hear how she had done.
