Family: Adrienne Frost, (sister, deceased); Christian Frost (brother); Cordelia Frost, (sister); Winston Frost (father); Hazel Frost (mother); Stepford Cuckoos (clone daughters).
History: Emma Grace Frost was born in Boston, MA with the proverbial silver spoon in her mouth. Winston, her father, was a very business minded and cold hearted man. He expected a lot from his children, treating them with harsh words and very little praise. This cold environment led Emma’s brother, Christian to turn to substance abuse. There was a lot of infighting in the family that was magnified by the development of the sisters’ powers at puberty. This family struggle finally resulted in the attempted suicide of Christian and, in turn, their father admitting him into a mental institution.
It was decided that the Frost fortune would not be divided amongst the Frost siblings and while Adrienne was the obvious choice, Winston chose Emma instead. Still sore about her father’s betrayal of Christian, she rejected the offer and left to New York to make her own way through life.
Emma then fell in love a man named Troy and soon learned that he owed a large amount of debt to a mobster named Lucien. In order to help him, Emma participated in a fake kidnapping scheme in hopes to extort the rest of the money from her father. He refused to pay and Troy was ultimately killed by a very angry Lucien. Lucien and his men then kidnapped Emma for real and released a ransom video to Winston. Adrienne forced their father into paying the ransom but Lucien, who was not content, still chose to kill Emma. With no other choice, Emma used her powers to turn the men against each other and free her.
With the money her father gave for her ransom, Emma was able to enroll in Empire State University. It is here that she met the first mutant outside of her family, Astrid Bloom. The two become friends and Astrid begins to mentor her in her powers. Emma dated a basketball player who attacked her without provocation. She was then shocked to learn that a teacher from her high school, Ian Kendall, whom she had once loved was working at the university. The two begin to date, but then he is caught attacking Emma’s roommate. Emma then learned that Astrid was the cause for the attacks and telepathically put the woman into a coma. She was also able to use her powers to save her old teacher’s job; however, once Emma had revealed herself to him, he promptly rejected her.
Emma Frost soon graduated from college with a degree in business administration. Armed with her advanced intelligence, charm, determination and her secret powers, Emma was able to advance quickly through the ranks of the business world. She even worked with Dark Beast for a short time and he helped further her rise to power. Eventually, Emma became the majority stockholder of a multi-billion dollar company that worked predominantly with electronics and transportation. She became chairwoman of the board and C.E.O and renamed the company Frost International. Around the same time she also became the headmistress of a preparatory school called Massachusetts Academy.
Her many successes catch the attention of the Hellfire Club, a secret elite social organization. When she learned that they are looking for dancers she quickly auditioned and used her telepathic abilities to enhance her performance. Once a member, she discovered that the ‘Council of the Chosen’, was secretly plotting to take destroy mutant kind through Project: Armageddon. With the help of Sebastian Shaw and several others, Emma Frost defeated the Sentinels and the group took over the Hellfire Club. They set themselves up as the Lords Cardinal of the ‘Inner Circle’ and Emma Frost took up the mantle of the White Queen.
With the Hellfire club now under mutant rule, Emma Frost attempts to strengthen their power by recruiting young mutants at her school in Massachusetts. The best of these became members of the Hellions. It was not until Emma Frost attempted to recruit Kitty Pryde that she first encountered the X-Men. The two groups clashed on various occasions and Emma Frost pulled nearly every trick in the book to defeat them, including telepathically switching minds with Storm in order to defeat the X-Men from the inside. The two groups did not always clash and even worked together to protect Emma Frost when she was under the assault of Trevor Fitzroy; however, the man’s attacks ultimately placed Emma into a deep coma and destroyed the Hellions.
Emma’s telepathic mind remained conscious, her body remained inert. Leaving her with little choice but to will her remaining students into Xavier’s care for their own protection. She did not stay in stasis for long and thanks to a short circuit at the school temporarily switched bodies with Bobby Drake. Xavier was able to coerce her mind back into her own body. After she recovers, Emma left become the headmistress of Massachusetts Academy once again where she began to train yet another group of mutants called Generation X; this time, however, she had the help of Sean Cassidy.
Frost International took a big hit when the stock market fell and Emma Frost was forced to ask her sister, Adrienne for help. She agreed but demanded to be co-headmistress of the school and to become the next White Queen. Adrienne continued to plot against Emma. She caused a riot at the school and even caused the death of the Generation X member Sync. Emma was finally able to stop her sister’s rampage by shooting and killing her. The news of the murder got out and Generation X disbanded.
After her school closed down, Emma Frost moved to Genosha where she began to teach mutant children for a short while. The island fell under Sentinel attack and the population was completely wiped out. This attack spurred the onset of Emma’s second mutation, her diamond form which allowed her to survive. She returned with the X-Men and takes on a position as a teacher at the Xavier Institute and begins to mentor the telepathic quintuplets, the Stepford Cuckoos.
As a member of the X-Men, Emma and Scott Summers become close through telepathic therapy session which eventually turned into a romantic affair. Their secret is ousted, however, after Sophie of the Stepford Cuckoos is killed during a riot on the school. Emma is confronted by Jean and suffers through the woman’s telepathic assault only to be shot whilst in her diamond form and shatters.
Emma survived, her consciousness trapped in the shattered remains of her diamond form. Jean, Phoenix, later detects this and telekinetically puts Emma back together. Upon her reconstruction, Emma was able to finger her attempted murder: Esme of the Cuckoos. In reality, Esme was working with Xorn, who believed that he was Magneto and had Emma shot because she had learned of his duality.
Jean was later killed by Xorn and Emma assumed the position of co-headmaster of the Xavier Institute. Later, the Phoenix Force is reconstructed and returned to Earth to resurrect Jean Grey. It then sought Scott Summers needing the energy from his optic blast. Emma frost tried to help and even offered herself up to the Phoenix as a host; however, she unable to contain the force. Jean separates the two and remerges with the Phoenix force, and subsequently fell into insanity. Emma used her telepathy to contact every X-Man in the world and they were able to help restore the Phoenix’s sanity.
The X-Men continued to work together on various other missions and then came the ‘House of M dream’. Upon awakening, this seemed to spur new action in the governments around the world and the MRA was quickly pushed through. It all seems so nice and efficient, but Emma believes that something more sinister is at work; however, if she is going to combat this, she is going to have to do it politically which means she needs to register.
Classification: Alpha
Powers: Telepathy: Emma Frost is an extraordinary powerful telepath that can use her powers in a variety of ways including reading thoughts and broadcasting her own thoughts into the minds of others. This ability is so strong that she can communicate with others across the globe unaided. She can control the minds of others, effectively altering people’s perceptions and memories and can even mind switch. Emma can even sedate or induce mental pain at the simple touch of a brow.
Diamond Form: A secondary mutation manifested during the attack on Genosha, Emma is able to transform her body into organic diamond. In this form she nearly indestructible except for a single, hairline fracture that can cause her to shatter should it be exploited. Unfortunately, while in this form Emma’s telepathic abilities are suppressed.
Potential: Emma Frost has shown the potential of telekinesis; however, this has only been shown through the manipulation of others and she has yet to be able to consciously control it.[/size]
Skills: Emma possesses a Bachelor of Science in Education with a Minor in Business Administration and she is a qualified sex therapist. She is an electronics expert and has used her knowledge and her connections to create weapons and devices that amplify and utilize psionic energy. She is also proficient with a gun.
Weaponry: She created a gun that enabled her to switch minds with Storm and has been known to use other psionic powered weapons. Emma also owns a hand gun.
Role Play Sample: Emma Frost placed her tablet onto the desk in front of her and drummed her fingers across the smooth, glossy finish of the wood. Blue eyes scanned the office with a sense of extreme scrutiny, but everything seemed to be in place. The A.C. worked at soft hum and she took a moment to enjoy the feel of its cold air against her nearly flawless skin. In the hallway just outside her office, the students of the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning hurried by as they headed towards their next class. She could hear their footsteps, the bits and pieces of their conversations… whispers of their thoughts.
Contrary to popular belief, Emma Frost did not spend her time digging into the brains of her students. It was simply a waste of her precious time, not to mention her talents. After all, why should she bother invading her students’ mental privacy when most of them wore their thoughts on their faces? All she really had to do was pay attention and much of the information simply… fell into her lap.
She crossed one smooth leg over the other, leaned back in her chair and waited. Emma had called one of the older students to her office to investigate some issues she had noticed recently. The person in question was, as far as Emma could tell, not responsible; however, Azalea Chase was still involved even if only in a minor way. Anything the young woman could contribute would be of help in resolving the issue quickly.
A distinctive thought pattern caught Emma’s attention and she smiled. The girl known as Doomsayer was finally headed towards her office. The headmistress waited until the girl was just about to knock before she spoke, “Enter, Miss Chase.” She watched the girl step inside and motioned for her to close the door. “I’m glad that you could join me today, please sit down. There are a few things I would like to discuss: perhaps we can start with what happened in the hedge maze.”
